The short version

StrideTap doesn't collect your data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. Your walks stay on your iPhone and in Apple Health, which you control.

Bluetooth

StrideTap uses Bluetooth to talk to your treadmill: to start, stop and change its speed, and to read its speed, distance, time, calories and step count. That data goes straight from the treadmill to your iPhone.

Apple Health

If you allow it, StrideTap saves your walks (steps, distance, active energy and the workout) to Apple Health. For treadmills that don't count steps, the saved steps are an estimate from the belt speed and your height, marked as estimated. StrideTap reads your height for that estimate, and your step count to check that Apple Health is counting your treadmill's steps and to avoid counting a walk twice. Health data never leaves your device through StrideTap and is never used for advertising or shared with anyone.

Motion

For treadmills that report neither steps nor speed, StrideTap can read your iPhone's own step count during a walk. This stays on your device.

On your device

Your walk history, settings and the treadmills you've added are stored on your iPhone only. Deleting the app deletes them.

When you contact us

If you request a treadmill, send a compatibility report or email support, you choose what to send and it's sent from your own email app. Compatibility reports contain your treadmill's Bluetooth name and the data it sent during the recording, and nothing about you. We use them only to support your treadmill, and delete them on request.

Children

StrideTap isn't directed at children under 13 and collects no information from anyone.
